SACRAMENTO, CA (MPG) - Students at Christian Brothers High School demonstrated creativity, compassion and community spirit during the successful Feed the Beat fundraiser held April 18, raising support for Meals on Wheels Sacramento County and its mission to serve local seniors.
At a board meeting on Monday, May 11 Executive Director of Meals on Wheels Melinda Klick presented a Certificate of Appreciation to Eddie Torres for his “outstanding leadership and dedication in coordinating the fundraiser, which brought together students, volunteers, artists and supporters for an evening of entertainment and philanthropy.”
The event featured nine live band performances, artist and painter exhibits, and pottery-making demonstrations, showcasing the talents of Christian Brothers students while raising funds to support older adults and vulnerable community members.
“The energy, creativity and community spirit made the event both memorable and meaningful for all who attended,” wrote Brian Chin, president of the Board of Directors for Meals on Wheels Sacramento County, in a statement of appreciation.
Chin also said, “Proceeds from the Feed the Beat fundraiser will help Meals on Wheels Sacramento County continue providing nutritious meals, wellness checks and compassionate support to seniors throughout the region.”
“This helps us meet our goal of ensuring that no senior goes hungry in Sacramento County,” he added.
Organization leaders noted that the fundraiser’s impact extends beyond meal delivery, helping ensure older adults receive connection, care and dignity.
Meals on Wheels is a nonprofit organization that provides nutritious meals to eligible homebound seniors aged 60 and older. The organization delivers throughout Sacramento County five days per week, 250 days per year.
The Brick House is the current vendor to provide meals for the Home Delivery and Community Café meal programs.
Meals on Wheels officials also extended their appreciation to the students, faculty, performers, artists, volunteers and supporters who contributed to the event’s success.
Board President Chin, while presenting a letter to Eddie Torres, a junior at Christian Brothers High School, said, “Thank you again for your leadership, generosity and commitment to making a positive impact in our community. We are truly grateful for your support and look forward to future opportunities to collaborate.”
“With the help of an amazing community of fellow artists, I was able to organize a benefit music festival this year to raise money for Meals on Wheels Sacramento County. The festival featured nine bands made up of musicians from throughout the Sacramento area,” Eddie said.
He concluded, “These artists, alongside a team of volunteers, made it possible to raise roughly $1,500 for charity. I’m proud to be a member of this community and hope to see everyone there again next year.”
